About Region

Why we built Region

Created by two friends, Oliver Williams, and Ash Read, Region’s mission is to create a new kind of media organisation that puts local people and communities first.

We want to do more than simply create content for the sole purpose of driving pageviews and advertising revenue. We aim to create a platform that gives a voice to local people of all backgrounds, races, and religions, and build an organisation that truly represents and supports all those who live and work in the regions we operate.

The website you’re visiting now is the first step in our journey to creating the kind of media company that we, our friends and family, and every single one of our readers are proud of.

Every weekday we publish only the most important stories about your area, what’s happening, and how it affects the daily lives of local people like you.

We aim to break down often complex stories, issues and talking points so that they’re easy-to-digest in order to help you understand the impact they have on you and your community.

Region is free from banner ads, lightning-fast and built for your mobile, meaning you can keep up with the most important stories in your community anytime, anywhere.

Region is built for you — and if you’d ever like to share a story with us, keep us accountable, or just say “hi”, we’d love to hear from you.
