Broomhill Pool set to reopen in 2021

Broomhill Pool appears set to reopen to the public in 2021 — 20 years after it closed, as not-for-profit charity trust, Fusion-Lifestyle, has signed a 50 year operating lease.

Fusion-Lifestyle has raised £7 million for the restoration project (£3.5M from Heritage Lottery Fund, £1.5M from Ipswich Borough Council and £2.0M from themselves). Alongside restoring the lido to its 1938 state, a new two storey new build fitness suite will also be built on the site of the former male changing rooms.

With listed building consent and planning permission set, detailed plans will now be produced by local consultants headed by KLH Architects and contractors appointed. It is hoped site work will start next year and the time scale is for the pool to be open for business by Spring 2021.
